Toggle Button - Take color from navbar-light or navbar-dark

Currently if you use navbar-dark and have a toggle button that button is black and cannot be seen.
Should the button take its color from the theme? i.e. navbar-light makes the toggle button black and navbar-dark make the toggle button white.

Maybe I just just miss understood something?
